Here we are at a sunset break with our cocktails, wine, cheese and crackers. The impala was lunch that day for a leopard, according to the guides. Tomorrow morning, only the horns will be left. It seems no animal including a hyena eats the horns.
Here are three lions, the two in the back are young males, notice the mane starting on each. If we had gotton out of the 4X4, the second step would have been on a lion.
This is a female elephant that charged the 4X4, She was protecting her dead baby. She will stay with the body and protect it until the body becomes cold; then she will join the herd.

In the first picture, here's the MAN, he had three females with him. They used our 4X4 to hide behind while they
stalked a herd of impala. A full grown male weighs between 275 to 440 pounds.
This is one guy you don't want to mess with.

Here's the whole group from left to right. Me, Mary, Kit, Adam( the owner and guide), Diane, Laura, Allison, Biter (the other guide) and John.

We actually crossed this river in these modern day dugout canoes. (Crocodiles were in the water)

We traveled by boat to a island where we really roughed it. Lunch and tracking three young male elephants on this island.
This was NOT Mary's favorite night.
The evening started well, we had cocktails and popcorn on the water while we watched the sunset.
For dinner Adam cooked steaks and baked potatoes over an open fire. Then we had the campfire cocktails,
etc and then to bed. We had nets over us but we slept on the ground.
During the night, I got up and took the flashlight to take a leak, as I returned to the netting, I saw Mary coming out from under the net. After about three steps I heard a groan from her and shined the flashlight on her, she had stepped in an elephant dropping, barefooted. (Elephant droppings are about 6 inches round and a little longer)

Here's the fancy toilet they brought to the campsite. (It was out of sight from the camp)

Here's Adam and Biter making breakfast at the camp, French toast, Canadian bacon, coffee, bread.
